Wow!!! The Elk has dropped and the fishing has been exceptional. The dry fly fishing is off the charts with large Golden Stone fly's hatching out in the evenings.
Nymph fishing has been very good with many anglers taking large Bull trout on heavy mymphs.
Streamer fishing is just starting now as the water levels are starting to drop with very good visibilty.
During the day with the rain showers we have been receiving each day this season the caddis have been very active. PMD'S are to be found as well and the Light Cahills which have been showing too. The next few weeks will be very good on the light Cahill's. During the afternoons the tiny little Lime Sally's and yellow Sally's stone's are just starting to appear.
The Michel Creek is now in perfect condition with low clear water with loads of Gray and Green Drakes.
The Wigwam is still a bit too high for good fishing and wading is dificult. Give this amazing river a week or two and it will be perfect barring any heavy rains.
Flies are: Golden stones, Caddis, PMX, Royal Wulffs, Western Green Drakes, Grey Drakes, PMD'S.
Nymphs: Black and golden stone fly, Prince nymph, Caddis pupa and nymphs.
Streamers: Black and White double bunnies.
Not only are the rivers starting to fish extremely well but the lake fishing just seems to keep going.
Summit lake and Wapati Lakes have fantastic dry fly fishing for Rainbows and Brookies. The fishing has been excellent during the afternoons and evenings on Caddis and caddis emergers.
