Winter River Report

Although the Elk and tributaries are mostly frozen over now, there is still some fishable pools to be found that are producing big, healthy and beautifully coloured Cutthroats with Bull Trout and Whitefish in there as well.

We have had success drifting San Juan worms, Wolly Buggers and Nymphs such as the Prince Nymph simply using a long leader with no indicator or additional weight, watching the leader closely for the subtle take, with the strike resulting in a solid hook up every time.

So don't hang up your rod for winter, grab one of those above zero Fernie Winter days and go see what you can find in the River, you might be very pleasantly surprised.
